Taking the Right Kind of Risks
What’s the biggest risk you’ve ever taken, and did it pay off?
Someone asked me that question recently and I actually had to pause.
The truth is: I’ve taken lots of risks, especially since starting my business.
(which is surprising for me to acknowledge, actually, because I’m generally a risk-averse person).
But here’s my secret: I don’t just take any old risk. I take the RIGHT risks.
Over years of practice, I’ve learned how to discern which risks will actually move me forward – and which are too big, too out there, too – well – risky.
I’m betting you ask yourself this question a lot, too.
You have dreams and goals and visions for your future.
But often you stop before you take the first, or the next, step.
Not because you don’t want your dream bad enough. And not because it’s the wrong dream.
But because you’re not sure if it’s a risk worth taking. If it’s the “right” risk.
So how can you tell which risks are worth taking?
Last week I led a workshop with executive women leaders in Washington, DC, and we tackled this very question.
